CCE's Academic Integrity Policy

Coquitlam Continuing Education maintains high standards and expects that all students demonstrate a high level of academic integrity.

Expectation
Students are to:
  • Complete their own work honestly
  • Cite all sources as per instructor’s expectations
  • Not engage in plagiarism, cheating, fabrication and/or unauthorized collaboration.
Definitions
  • Academic Integrity: The commitment to and demonstration of honest behaviour in academic situations.
  • Plagiarism: Using words, ideas, or creations that are not your own, without proper acknowledgment – including content generated by AI.
  • Cheating: Any form of dishonesty to gain unfair academic advantage, including using unauthorized materials or communication.
  • Fabrication: Creating or altering data, sources, or information dishonestly.
  • Unauthorized Collaboration: Working with others when individual work is required or receiving outside help not permitted by instructors.
Online Integrity
Additional considerations for remote learning include:
  • Logging in with your own credentials.
  • Avoiding impersonation or sharing accounts.
  • Keeping assessments and exams private and secure.
  • Not using AI or external tools unless explicitly approved.
Accountability & Consequences
Violations will be addressed based on severity.  Consequences may include:
  • A warning
  • Academic sanctions (re-submission, mark reduction, failure)
  • Suspension or expulsion from a class and/or program.
