Chemistry 11 deals with the properties and reactions of materials. It is concerned with the identification, characterization, and transformation of matter as well as accompanying energy changes for transformations. Chemical Science focuses on the structure and interaction of matter at the atomic and molecular level. Areas of study are: Introduction to Chemistry, the mole, Solution Chemistry, chemical reactions, atomic theory and Organic Chemistry. Students complete assignments, unit tests and exams in this course. To be successful in this course students should have good math skills and sound problem solving abilities.

This course is generally a prerequisite for students intending on careers in science, the medical field, engineering, laboratory work, to name a few.

Students have one year to complete the course from registration. Students are expected to complete 5% in the first month. Students will participate in various online activities which may include Moodle online lessons, online discussions, and e-mail interactions with the teacher. Students can meet with their teacher for orientation and learning support by visiting CLOC.
This online self-paced course is offered at the Coquitlam Learning Opportunity Centre (CLOC), located near Coquitlam Centre.
