Fitness and Conditioning
This course is designed for athletes who wish to develop fitness and skills specific to sport. Students will focus on a variety of advanced conditioning programs such as plyometric, power, speed, agility, quickness, strength, interval training, running, energy systems and weight training as they relate to their specific sport. Specific physical components of the course will include an emphasis on injury prevention
. Special emphasis will be placed on developing individual programs that best meet the student’s needs, if students participate fully, are cooperative and consistently put in their best effort they will be assured of success in the course.
Fast Track courses will follow a blended learning model: two weekly face-to-face sessions and three days of online work. When not in class, teachers will be available for both online and face-to-face tutorial support. Face-to-face: The face-to-face classroom methods are combined with computer-mediated activities. Students attend school twice a week for 3 hours for an enriched classroom experience. This course is Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:30-11:30a.m. Online: On days when students are not in class they access materials online and work, independently or in groups, on course materials. (Students will not be required to participate in an online synchronous class as in previous years).
